Suffering from Varicose, Thread or Spider Veins can be difficult, but our Consultant Dermatologists are here to help. With Foam Sclerotherapy treatments tailored specifically for you based on your individual needs and symptoms, we’ll provide the expert care necessary for optimal results.
At your consultation, one of our Consultant Dermatologists and Vascular Surgeons will assess your desired cosmetic outcome and evaluate whether Sclerotherapy is the optimal approach for you. We will thoroughly examine the targeted veins and screen for any potential venous issues. Additionally, an Ultrasound scan will be performed to assess the underlying causes of your vein concerns.
During sclerotherapy, our skilled professionals will pinpoint the affected areas and delicately inject a foam solution into the veins, causing them to smoothly disappear over time. The non-invasive procedure is performed in the clinic without the need for anaesthesia and takes only 15 to 30 minutes depending on the scope of treatment. This process allows for good contact with the cells in the lining of the vein, producing the most effective results.
After Foam Sclerotherapy treatment, it is essential to prioritise proper aftercare. This includes wearing a Class II compression stocking continuously for a week. You can drive on the same day as the procedure, and we advise taking a 20-minute walk daily. We do, however, advise you to listen to how your body feels and not to push it too far. If there is anything else that you should avoid for a period of time post-treatment, your consultant will advise you of this.
While many patients find themselves pleased with the results and see no need for further appointments, others may want extra reassurance or treatment. The decision to return is self-assessed, with consideration given to the way your leg feels and looks. If you’re confident that you’ve achieved the desired outcome, there’s no need for a follow-up appointment. If you want further support, you can either book a reassessment or a second treatment session after 4 weeks.
