THREAD LIFT MANCHESTER Treatments
As we age, the structures of our face change. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and less elastic, these factors contribute to sagging, drooping and the aging of the face.
When the skin’s elasticity declines, instead of bouncing back to its original position after various facial expressions, lines and wrinkles will start to appear and stay in place as a permanent feature. For some people, this can be a problem.
A thread lift is an advanced minimally-invasive alternative to a surgical face lift. It is particularly useful to improve the nasolabial folds, jowls and jawline. The threads we use are made from absorbable medical suture material, which has been in use for years in surgery. Most patients get an immediate benefit, which improves over 3 months.

HISTORY AND INNOVATION OF THREAD LIFT TREATMENT
Thread contouring using permanent threads has been widely available for over 10 years. Most threads used up to this point have been permanent, resulting in visible asymmetry and complications. Old thread treatments failed to gain popularity due to their invasive and uncomfortable nature.
The PDO (polydioxanone) thread lifting technique we use is a relatively new method of body, neck and face contouring. 2011 saw it gain FDA approval for indications of collagen regeneration and rejuvenation, as well as for lipolysis. Doctors have been using PDO threads for closing wounds around the world for over 15 years. PDO threads are safer and cause significantly less discomfort and down time due to having a less invasive insertion technique.
PDO threads are completely biodegradable over a 6-8 month period, leaving only new bands of collagen to tighten, lift and rejuvenate the skin.
Innovative new cog and screw threads provide a far superior anchoring and lifting of sagging connective tissue and sub-dermal fat tissue. To produce a greater inflammatory effect to stimulate collagen production, threads are doubled or tripled. A minimal number of insertion points are used to access the whole face and neck, giving fantastic visual improvement without the risks of traditional cosmetic surgery.
SILHOUETTE SOFT: NON-SURGICAL FACELIFT

Silhouette Soft® is a non-surgical thread lifting procedure and a minimally invasive facelift that aims to redefine facial contours with immediate results. Silhouette Soft® is a treatment for men and women who are trying to combat sagging skin or loss of volume but don’t want heavy and invasive treatment.
The threads used in the process are polylactic and glycolic acids. These have a safe and well documented history of use in aesthetic procedures. These materials are biodegradable, and can safely and are naturally absorbed by the body over a period of time- usually between 18- 24 months.
The treatment can help to tackle lax skin on the neck, brow or mid face area. Your face will look natural, expressive and mobile.

HOW DOES SILHOUETTE SOFT WORK?
The non-surgical facelift takes place under local anaesthetic, in approximately 45 – 60 minutes.
The Silhouette Soft treatment is a minimally invasive, non-surgical rejuvenation option. Prior to the treatment, we will mark where the needles will enter and where we will position the suspension sutures.
Our consultant dermatologist will then use a fine needle to insert the threads into the skin. This will allow them to draw the facial tissue gently upwards to create the lifting effect. The small cones, which are part of the threads, then allow us to hold the tissue in its new position, like a fine suture.
The Silhouette Threads have an immediate uplifting of skin and underlying tissue, which looks both refined and subtle and importantly, natural. The process galvanises the skin’s natural collagen production, which actively makes the skin look younger and fresher. This will take effect gradually over the following months.
IS SILHOUETTE SOFT TREATMENT SAFE?
The development of Silhouette Soft® follows six years of success in using this material in the use of suspension sutures with cones in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. Poly-lactic acid has been safely used for many years in various medical fields such as cardiology and bone fracture treatments. With more than 150 000 treatments carried out so far, Silhouette Soft® has proven its safety and efficacy all over the world.
WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH FTL?

WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
A full medical history will be taken at the time of assessment. Patients who have the following should not have this treatment:
- Serious heart problems
- Auto-immune conditions
- Kidney disorders
- Bleeding disorders
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
You will see an improvement immediately in the treated areas. This will improve even further over the next 3-4 months as new collagen settles between the threads, contributing to increased lifting and tightening of the skin.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?
Studies have shown that the results from FTL last between 2 and 3 years, however this depends on the quality of the skin, the number of threads used, the degree of sagging and the patient’s age at the time of treatment.
Having occasional additional thread treatments will help you to maintain good results.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF SILHOUETTE SOFT?
Many patients do not feel any pain during this treatment, however, some patients have found the treatment slightly uncomfortable. We will apply local anaesthetic beforehand to minimise any discomfort.
Thread lift treatments have very few side effects. Some patients may notice minor bruising or swelling immediately after the Silhouette Soft thread lift procedure. However, any bruising should subside shortly afterwards.
You may also see a few tiny dots of blood at the entry and exit points for the threads. Sometimes a slight depression or skin irregularity may appear at the entry points. These usually disappear a few days after treatment.
Following treatment, you’ll notice your skin looks lifted right away. But what’s even better is that the treatment induces a process of ‘collagenesis’. This process means the body produces fresh new collagen (which diminishes as we age).The biological lift means you will notice your skin feels plumper, firmer and tighter. There are a variety of post-treatment recommendations to aid in recovery and to minimise any potential negative effects on the Silhouette Soft® suspension sutures. During your consultation, we will provide you with the aftercare information and discuss any questions you may have about the treatment and the recovery. The recovery period for Silhouette Soft® can vary depending on a variety of factors, and can be anywhere between a few days and up to two weeks.
Typically, after a few days you will be ready to go back to work and your daily routine. There are some aftercare recommendations to take into considerations, to acquire the best results. We will discuss this with you during your consultation.
