Dr Daniel Shaw completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Leeds, followed by specialist dermatology training in Greater Manchester. During his medical studies, he undertook a two-month dermatology elective at Brown University in the United States. He has extensive experience in managing a broad spectrum of skin conditions, including eczema, psoriasis, acne, skin cancer, hair loss, and various inflammatory rashes. In addition, Dr Shaw regularly performs skin surgery to treat both malignant and benign lesions.
He is a Consultant Dermatologist working at Salford Royal Hospital (Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust) in one of the largest Dermatology services in the UK. As part of his NHS role, Dr Shaw authored local guidelines and policy for the use of isotretinoin (Roaccutane) in the treatment of acne and other dermatological conditions. He is also a member of the regional specialist urticaria (hives) clinic, where he uses advanced therapies to manage difficult-to-treat disease.
Dr Shaw is actively involved in dermatology research and has presented his work at both local and national conferences, including the UK national symposium on hair and scalp disorders and the British Association of Dermatologists annual congress. He has published peer-reviewed articles across a range of dermatological conditions and recently authored two textbook chapters on hand eczema and polymorphic light eruption in the internationally recognised dermatology textbook Treatment of Skin Disease.
Dr Shaw has undertaken extensive postgraduate training courses across a broad range of dermatological conditions, including the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology course on Allergic Contact Dermatitis course in Portugal, which focuses on eczema-like skin reactions caused by environmental allergens. Dr Shaw is passionate about education and teaches medical students and GPs in areas such as acne and skin cancer.
